Training and Accreditation

Telecommunication suppliers typically require their installation contractors and sub-contractors to be accredited to their requirements. Often a mandatory training and assessment program is provided.

Where polyethylene pipe is to be installed, accreditation in polyethylene welding techniques is usually required.
Nationally recognised training in electrofusion and butt fusion welding is available Australia-wide from Registered Training Organisation “Polymer Fusion Technology”.
Training and assessment is available in the competencies:
  • PMBWELD301A: Butt weld polyethylene plastic pipelines
  • PMBWELD302A: Electrofusion weld polyethylene pipelines
These qualifications can be taken in partial completion of PMB30401: Certificate III in Process Manufacturing, recognised by the Australian Government’s Department of Education, Employment and Workplace relations.
