Training and Accreditation

Qualifications relevant to the installation of Iplex water supply pipelines are available through the nationally recognised Australian Qualifications Framework. These qualifications are ultimately recognised by the Australian Government’s Department of Education, Employment and Workplace relations.
Industry Skills Councils that provide training and accreditation relevant to the installation of Iplex water supply pipelines include: 
  • Manufacturing Industry Skills Council: MSA
  • Resources and Infrastructure Industry Skills Council: SkillsDMC 
Manufacturing Industry Skills Council:
This Skills Council has developed PMB07 – the Plastics, Rubber and Cablemaking Training Package.
This training package includes the following Units of Competency:
Butt weld polyethylene plastic pipelines
Electrofusion weld polyethylene pipelines
Install polyethylene (non-pressure) drainage pipelines
Design polyethylene (non-pressure) drainage pipelines
Install polyethylene plastic pressure pipelines
Design polyethylene plastic pressure pipelines
Install high temperature plastic pressure pipelines
Install PVC plastic pressure pipelines
Weld plastics using extrusion and injection techniques
Design PVC plastic pressure pipelines
Design high temperature plastic pressure pipelines
These Units of Competency can be taken in partial completion of PMB30401 Certificate III in Process Engineering.
Registered Training Organisation “Polymer Fusion Technology,” provides recognised training and assessment nationwide in PMBWELD301A and PMBWELD302A (see above).

Resources and Infrastructure Industry Skills Council
Skills DMC, the national industry skills council for the Resources and Infrastructure sector, provides training and assessment packages for drilling, mining, quarrying and civil construction.
The Civil Construction Training Package includes units of competency, qualifications and assessment guidelines for the Pipe Laying sector of the Civil Construction industry.
Certificate III in Civil Construction (Pipelaying) is a trade equivalent qualification that is part of the nationally recognised Australian Qualification Framework. Along with 17 core competencies, one of the 8 elective units that must be obtained is “BCCPC3001B Install Water Pipelines.”
